Samples of blast-furnace slag from VSŽ (East-Slovak Metallurgical Works) Košice, of various ages and granulometry were studied with respect to their chemical and mineralogical composition. Their tendency to ferrous and γ-dicalcium silicate disintegration was assessed, as well as their hydraulic activity under normal and hydrothermal conditions. Within the time intervals followed, the experiments showed the slags to be uniform in their properties and suitable for their application as aggregate for concrete. |
