Syntheses were carried out of "belite" samples, which contained, apart from the stabilizer (B₂O₃), graded amounts of oxides generally present in portland cement clinker. Hydration of the samples in paste form at 175 °C for a period of 16 hours showed that the highest degree of reactivity (in terms of the amount of C₂SH (A) - phase formed) was exhibited by belite containing 0,5 % B₂O₃ and by β-2CaO.SiO₂ samples which contained B₂O₃ and graded amounts of Fe₂O₃. It was also found that "belites" containing mainly alkalies (K₂O and Na₂O) apart from B₂O₃ were not "sufficiently" stabilized since in the course of the hydrothermal process they were converted to hydrated γ-2CaO.SiO₂.
