The formation of a liquid phase in the course of manufacture of magnesite-chromite refractories or their use is taken part in above all by silicates dicalcium ferrite and in the presence of TiO₂, also perovskite. The steady-state phase diagrams of the systems CaTiO₃-Ca₃MgSi₂O₈, CaTiO₃-Ca₂SiO₄, CaTiO₃-Mg₃SiO₄, CaTiO₃-Ca₂Fe₂O₅ and Mg₂TiO₄-Mg₂SiO₄ were determined experimentally. The most suitable phase combination with respect to the formation temperature and the amount of liquid phase was found to be CaTiO₃-Mg₂SiO₄ in the case of molar ratios CaO : SiO₂ < 2. At molar ratios CaO : SiO₂ > 2 the phase combination Ca₂SiO₄-CaTiO₃ is more suitable.
