The calcium hydrosilicates of the tobermoritic group were prepared by hydrothermal treatment of a mixture of CaO with β-quartz in an aqueous suspension. The crystallization degree of the reaction product was positively affected by addition of SO₄2- and Al3+ ions. The pH was adjusted by addition of alkalies and the relationship between pH and the crystallization degree of the calcium hydrosilicate component was determined. Alkalies have been proved to have a negative effect on the formation of crystallically developed phases of the tobermoritic group. |
